Placard privacy policy

No Placard account or media cloud.

Areeb Labs does not receive your selected media, playlists or app diagnostics automatically. The apps have no advertising, advertising identifiers, analytics services or crash-reporting services. You do not need a Placard account. Loaded content plays from the TV's storage without internet access.

Local storage and transfer.

The apps store your selected media copies, thumbnails, playlists, schedules and settings on your devices. The companion also saves the paired TV's name, identifier, network address and pairing code, plus local transfer history. Media and playlists transfer directly over your local network. The pairing code controls access to the TV receiver; these transfers use HTTP and are not encrypted. Use a local network you trust.

The TV keeps rotating local diagnostics logs containing timestamps, playback and transfer events, identifiers and performance information. The apps do not upload these logs to Areeb Labs. You can choose to share logs for support.

Google Play purchases.

Google Play processes the optional one-time Pro purchase and purchase verification under Google's terms and privacy policy. This requires communication with Google Play. The TV app receives purchase status and stores its Pro entitlement and purchase reference locally so access can work offline. Areeb Labs does not receive your payment-card details through the app. Google controls its store records and their retention.

TV launcher.

On supported TVs, Placard may publish a local “Continue watching” entry containing the playlist title and last-engagement time to the TV system's launcher provider. Display and handling of that entry depend on the TV system.

Permissions.

The system media picker gives the companion access to files you select. Network permissions support TV discovery and transfers. A temporary foreground service and power/Wi-Fi locks allow a transfer you start to continue while you switch apps or turn off the companion's screen. Optional notification permission shows transfer progress and a Cancel action. The apps do not request location, contacts, microphone or camera access.

Retention and deletion.

Saved content remains locally until you delete it or clear the app's storage. Deleting a playlist removes its saved media copies on that device; it does not delete gallery originals or copies on another device. Completed transfer staging is cleared after import; interrupted transfers may retain files for retry. Clearing app storage removes that app's private files, settings and cached entitlement. It does not cancel a purchased Pro unlock, which can be restored through Google Play with the purchasing account.

Email [email protected]. If you contact us, Areeb Labs receives your email address and whatever information or attachments you voluntarily send through email services. This is separate from automatic app data collection.

Children and changes.

These business tools are not directed at children. Policy updates will appear here with a new effective date.
